LIST accelerated the valorization of its AI research and strengthened its partnerships in Luxembourg and internationally.
2025 was a pivotal year for valorizing research and strengthening partnerships. Following more than four years of collaboration with Vaonis, a French company specializing in compact consumer telescopes, a three-year licensing agreement was signed. The AI-based image enhancement technology developed at LIST (MILAN2 project) has thus been integrated into Vaonis’s “Singularity” mobile app, used by thousands of amateur astronomers worldwide, illustrating LIST’s ability to transform fundamental research into concrete solutions for the market. In the field of education, LIST and Open Assessment Technologies (OAT), the publisher of TAO, the leading platform for digital knowledge assessment, have joined forces to enhance online testing tools using generative AI.
Internationally, a strategic partnership has been established with ADIA Lab, the data science research institute based in Abu Dhabi, to develop evaluation methodologies for multi-agent systems, one of the most complex challenges in contemporary AI. Work on smart cities, conducted as part of the Smart City Hub, has also demonstrated how AI, digital twins, and data analysis can support Luxembourg municipalities in their dual digital and climate transition. Its founding participation in the Luxembourg AI Factory, described in the dedicated insert, served as the most concrete illustration of this integration into the national ecosystem.
Finally, 2025 marked the launch of LIST’s AI Community of Practice, which brought together nearly 50 employees from across the organization. This initiative, designed to accelerate the adoption of AI by all teams, including non-R&D teams, demonstrated an ambition that goes beyond research alone: to make artificial intelligence a lever for transformation across the entire LIST.
